A message from our CEO, Jenny
Dear Breakthrough community,
It feels very strange to be writing to you under these extraordinarily challenging circumstances and keeping in touch has rarely felt more important.
I wanted to first of all let you know that we remain completely committed to our young people and to keeping our mentors and their mentees connected – thank you for also committing to this and for your messages of concern and support thus far. We are in close contact with Dundee City Council as I believe we have a responsibility to continue working with schools, albeit differently, to ensure that young people who engage with Breakthrough are well supported and safe.
We specialise in face to face mentoring and since this is currently not possible, we need to vary our model to respond, whilst also ensuring we are meeting our safeguarding responsibilities. I will be in touch in the coming days to offer you some options around how you can stay in touch with us, how you can stay in touch with your mentor and how to keep connected to your mentee.
It’s also my responsibility to ensure that our team stays safe and well and because of this, all of Team Breakthrough is now working from home. We are still navigating the various challenges that this brings in itself but we will get better at it!
Thank you again for your continued commitment to Breakthrough and our young people, we really are all in this together.
Stay safe everyone,
